The annual Apache Shores Pumpkin Carving event brought neighbors together for a relaxed evening of Halloween fun beneath the trees. Thanks to our neighborhood volunteers, families enjoyed pumpkin carving, creative activities for younger children, snacks, and plenty of time to visit with friends and neighbors. As dusk settled in, the changing light gave way to twinkling decorations, and the larger-than-life Halloween characters—especially the giant spider—delighted the kids. With pumpkin seeds and scraps scattered beneath the trees, creativity was everywhere! It was a wonderful reminder that sometimes the simplest gatherings make the best neighborhood memories.

Even the Halloween ghosts came out to enjoy the evening! A nearly full moon adds the perfect finishing touch to the spooky decorations.
Pumpkin carving is a hands-on affair, with a little help from the grown-ups and plenty of anticipation about what each pumpkin will become.
The wonderfully messy part of pumpkin carving! Scooping out seeds and stringy pumpkin innards is half the fun—especially when you can show everyone what you found.
Not quite ready to carve a pumpkin? There’s plenty of creativity for younger children, too, with drawing activities, Halloween crafts, and a few silly monsters keeping watch.
One of the nicest things about this annual event is its relaxed pace. Families settle in beneath the trees, children explore, and neighbors have time to visit while the pumpkins take shape.
Every jack-o’-lantern begins with a pumpkin and an idea. Neighbors bring their own pumpkins, while volunteers provide carving tools, supplies, and a welcoming place to get creative.
Even the pumpkin innards have a purpose! The event takes place among a circle of trees, where leftover pumpkin scraps can return to the earth through composting.
A little imagination goes a long way. Some pumpkins start with a carefully drawn design, while others take shape as the carving begins.
Serious pumpkin business! Young carvers get to work scooping, scraping, and creating their Halloween masterpieces at the annual Apache Shores pumpkin carving gathering.
As darkness settles over Apache Shores, colorful lights transform the trees into a magical setting for an evening of pumpkins, neighbors, and Halloween fun.
